The original Heartstanding Cow (aka “Elsie”) is covered in 701 hearts and this replica has as many overlapping hearts as she can handle. The life-size cow sold at auction for $5,500 benefitting the NC Children’s Hospital.

About Steven Ray Miller. The artist has specialized in watercolor for about 35 years and, in recent years, he has begun acrylic painting on glass. Miller graduated from Duke University with a dual degree in Studio Art and Psychology. He has exhibited throughout the United States in more than 100 one-man shows and in 45 juried competitions. His creations are found in prominent art collections, on television and on the covers of national publications. In many of his works, Heartstanding Cow included, Miller uses hearts, symbols of connection. “I put hearts in my paintings to bring the viewer in for a closer look. Hearts help us to share the feelings of love and hope that connect us all,” says Miller.
